Introduction
My all-time favourite beverage is a Smoothie. I don’t really care for the one made from purees or concentrates. When it comes to smoothies, I want it fully organic – fruit, vegetables, milk, yogurt and honey.
This post is all about my love for smoothies. It’s very difficult to share smoothie recipes as literally there are endless options – sky is the limit really. I will be sharing different types of smoothies you can try out at home. Just giving you some ideas. You can try some of these out and choose the combinations you want to stick to.
Ingredients
Main
I put all of these in all my smoothies
- Milk – As many cups as you need
- Yogurt – 1/2 Tablespoon for each cup (optional). Vanilla yogurt is even tastier
- Honey/Maple syrup 1 tsp for each cup or sugar if you are not a health freak
Vital greens
I add one of these in most of my smoothies
Click on the above to get instant health benefits.
 Nuts (optional)
Seeds (optional)
Flavour (optional)
- Cinnamon powder
- Vanila essence
- nutmeg
Texture (optional)
- Whipped (or any) cream
- Ice-cream
Method
Add very little milk and all other ingredients and liquidise it in your food processor for about 30 seconds. Then add the rest of the milk and liquidise it for another 20 seconds. Serve cold.
Smoothie Combinations
With the above ingredients, you have the choice of adding any combination. I would like to share the following.
-
Berry with any vital greens
This is my most popular smoothie where I add strawberries, raspberries, blackberries or blueberries. These can either be used alone or with Spinach or Kale leaves.
2. Pear, Spinach & Ginger
In this combination, you add a pinch of ginger to get a kick. The ingredients sound a bit strange mixed in together but honestly its one of the yummiest smoothies.
3. Date, Almond & OatÂ
Earlier on the blog, I shared a smoothie recipe for Date, Almond & Oat oat Shake.
4. Lassi
Yogurt, sugar, milk and cream are the ingredients to make a frothy lassi. Here is my detailed blog post on its recipe.
5. Cookies & Cream
Use Oreo biscuits, ice-cream and cream for this
6. Apricot & Pineapple
7. Banana, apple, carrot & orange
8. Blueberry & Pomegranate
9. Banana & Lime
10. Mango & papaya
11. Guava & Grape
12. Strawberry & watermelon
Health Notes
The Last Word
Try different combinations. Make sure you add all main ingredients and at least one of the vital greens when you try any combination. Best of luck! I will be waiting to know how yours turned out.
